Awards
With the establishment of Sahitya Thoupang Lup, discussion was also held to institute some awards to be given to renowned individuals. The awards instituted are: -
1) Thiyam Leirikmacha International Award –
- The award is given to the individuals staying outside India who dedicate to
develop Manipuri language and literature. This award given to a person who
speaks Manipuri as her/his mother tongue is a token of recognition given by the
LUP for her/his effort and dedication for the above cause. The award is
biannual. It had been started from the year 2011. - For the first time, the
award had been conferred to Shri Ananta Kumar Sheram (AK. Sheram) who is a
Manipuri staying at Bangladesh. This award had been conferred to him in
recognition of the contributions he had made to develop Manipuri language and
literature.
2) Thiyam Ibochoubi National Award –
-The award is given to the individuals staying within India who dedicate to develop Manipuri language and literature. This award is a token of recognition given by the LUP for his/her dedication for the above cause. This award is biannual starting from the year 2012.
3) Sarda Translation Award-
-International Federation Of Translator's(FIT) observes International Translation Day on the 30th September every year all over the world. To mark this day, SATHOULUP is also instituting a ‘Translation Award’ which has been conferred to individual for her/his contribution in the field of translation every year since 2012.
4) SuiGeneris Mother Language Award-
Sahitya Akademi Award is given each year, since 1955, by Sahitya Akademi (India's National Academy of Letters), to writers and their works, for their outstanding contribution to the upliftment of Indian and Manipuri literature.
